Birdie scaled +73% in 9 months across Europe and the USA

Birdie already had a strong product, a distinctive brand and clear international potential. The next step was turning that potential into scalable growth across markets. Baggrund

A Danish design product with international potential

Birdie is a Danish design brand built around a simple idea: making indoor air quality visible in a way people immediately understand.

The product already had strong brand recognition and clear international appeal when the collaboration started.

But the international setup had not yet reached the same level as the product itself.

Growth was still concentrated in selected markets, while the commercial structure across advertising, localisation, webshop and customer journey needed to become more scalable.

The opportunity was clear: turn Birdie's strong brand into a much larger international e-commerce business.

Udfordringen

Scaling internationally without losing efficiency

Birdie's challenge was not creating interest in the product.

It was building a setup capable of converting that interest into profitable growth across multiple markets at the same time.

That meant solving several challenges simultaneously:

  • Scaling acquisition across Europe and the USA
  • Creating stronger local relevance in each market
  • Maintaining healthy acquisition economics while increasing spend
  • Building an e-commerce setup capable of supporting international growth
  • Creating a structure that could be repeated across new markets

The question became:

How do you scale a distinctive Danish brand internationally while keeping the commercial model efficient?

Løsningen

International scaling with local relevance

The international setup was built around one principle: the overall growth model needed to be scalable, but the customer experience still had to feel local.

Rather than treating Europe and the USA as one market, the setup was adapted to the conditions customers actually met in each country.

That included:

  • Advertising in the local language
  • Local currencies
  • Relevant payment methods
  • Market-specific shipping setups
  • Localised webshop experiences

This made it possible to scale internationally without creating unnecessary friction in the customer journey.

Meta Ads as the primary growth engine

Meta became the main engine for creating demand and introducing Birdie to new audiences.

The creative setup was continuously developed around different hooks, formats, messages and customer motivations.

Instead of relying on one winning concept, the structure was built around ongoing creative testing and iteration.

That gave Birdie a broader foundation for scaling spend while continuously finding new ways to communicate the product.

Google Ads captured existing demand

Google Ads played a different role in the setup.

Where Meta created awareness and demand, Google captured users already searching for Birdie, indoor air quality solutions or related products.

This created a stronger connection between demand generation and demand capture across the customer journey.

Shopify built for international conversion

Scaling advertising only works if the webshop can convert the traffic.

Shopify was therefore continuously optimised across markets, with focus on reducing friction and making the buying journey easier to understand.

Language, currency, shipping and payment options were adapted to each market so the experience felt relevant regardless of where the customer came from.

SEO strengthened the long-term foundation

SEO became part of the international growth model to reduce dependence on paid acquisition alone.

The goal was to create stronger organic visibility around Birdie's category, product and the broader problem the brand solves.

That gave Birdie an additional source of relevant traffic while strengthening the commercial foundation behind the paid channels.

Resultatet

From Danish design brand to international growth engine

In nine months, Birdie strengthened its position across Europe and the USA while improving the commercial setup behind the growth.

During the period, Birdie achieved:

  • +73% revenue growth
  • -11% nCAC
  • +75,000 new followers
  • A stronger international Shopify setup
  • A scalable acquisition model across Europe and the USA

The strongest part of the case is not only the growth itself.

It is the structure behind it.

Birdie now has a model where creative, Paid Social, Google Ads, SEO, localisation and Shopify work together across markets, creating a stronger foundation for the next stage of international growth.

We have worked with many agencies over the years, but very few have been able to become as integrated in our business as Looja. They continuously challenge us, bring new ideas to the table and help us identify the areas with the greatest commercial potential. The collaboration feels less like working with an external agency and more like having an ambitious growth team alongside us.
